George,

Great to hear from you. Thanks for reading.

Those NYC Marathon characters certainly made life interesting. Even after I officially retired, Newsday let me cover the race as a freelancer until the pandemic set in. A great event.

Never saw the London race, but my son-in-law is going to run a half-marathon in London in a couple of weeks.

My own race days are long, long gone. Twice did the LI Marathon around 1980 and the half-marathon a half-dozen times, most recently in 2018. Let me tell you, some things don't get better with age, but I still ramble around each morning locally. Slowwwwwly. Makes the Cheerios taste better.

Hope all is well with you.

John, thanks for your expertise....and the memories of that great time. Fred Lebow....Joey Goldstein and Dave Herrscher herding the writers into the pre-dawn buses. This year, a family friend was running London...and beforehand I said I heard London was one of the most flat courses. Yes, she said, but it's an old city with lots of tight turns where runnings get backed up. I'll have to check on her time. But two runners under 2 hours. Where is Fred when we need him? How many marathons have you run? Regards, GV
