Only had several crossing-of-paths with Knight, and none were pleasant. But the way he acted in San Juan was easily the worst, because it was so racist; I asked the USOC president about it and he argued that Knight needed to show a little "nobless oblige." (Did I spell that right? Foreign words....)
The comparison of the late, unlamented Knight with the Felon-in-Chief is right on point.
Sadly, Knight had his bootlickers, too. After San Juan, the USOC made him the U.S. Olympic coach in '84.

Excellent article. I enjoy looking at the world or events through your writings. Travel outside of the USA can be eye opening.
