And, meanwhile, because of you, Wally Hills is immortal, and I do not hesitate to steal a good writer's whimsy.

Speaking of Stan. Just got hold of his book, Out of Left Field, a memoir apparently moved into print by his daughter this Spring. He had been working on it before he died in 2013. Lots of fun stuff about the Chipmunks, etc.

I was too naive and uninformed to have covered Munich, I think. My first international event was the '79 Pan Am Games, when Bobby Knight made an ass of himself. I was so out of my depth that, when I was driving to an event, a fellow pulled up alongside me and asked for something in Spanish. I had no idea what he was saying and blundered an apology of how I didn't understand. So he said, in perfect English, "Do you have the time?"

Thanks for reading, and for the kind comments.

I guess I'm kind of sneakily writing a memoir without realizing it......

Loving your remembrances of moments past, carrying us into the present. Stories wonderfully told.

A lot of nostalgia in that piece John. Well done. Have you ever wondered how you would have reacted if you went to the Olympics instead of Stan. They were in Munich and where terrorist attacked the Israeli team. And on another note: Somewhere Wally Hills is smiling.
